Come and have a little drive with me in my 1993 MX5 Turbo!
I made this little video a few months ago to test out a recent purchase, my Go Pro HD Hero 2 camera and suction mount. As you can see, I got a bit carried away and ended up shooting a fair bit of footage with the camera stuck all over the car.
The car is a mildly modified MK1 MX5. Originally bought in standard trim as a second “trackday car”, it now has a Greddy turbo, Front mounted Intercooler, Larger injectors (from a 1.8), Emanage blue ECU, Electronic boost controller, Gaz Coilovers, T R Lane Roll bar among various other things. I have no idea what sort of power it pushes out. My guess is at about 9 psi boost it might make around the 180 bhp mark. I Love this car, it’s a proper drivers machine.
Great site!
Found it through your videos on your MX-5.
I really like the objective of your site. The emphasis on affordable true driver’s cars is something that has not been done enough!
I really like your steering wheel and shifter by the way. What brand & model are they? I recently got bit by the Miata bug and am thinking of buying of a first generation model and turbo’ing it. Do you have a post about the history of how you modified your car? I don’t usually like modified cars but yours looks so well done… better than the original!

Hi Julie,
Glad you like the site! My wheel is an OMP Trecento, it’s much smaller than the standard wheel which I found too big for me (i’m 6ft and I kept hitting my knees on it!). The shifter is just the standard Mk1 MX5 one.
I modified my car over a few years and most of my knowledge was gained from getting involved with the forum at http://www.mx5nutz.com. ( this is my profile http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showuser=1584) If you go to the forums and have a look around you’ll see what a great place for info it is. Theres also http://www.miataturbo.net/ which is a US site, thats good too.
Cheers
Andy
Thanks for the info Andy! MX-5 Nutz? Lol, perfect name. I think I may be turning into one…

Love this. Saw your ad on pistonheads, love the car but unfortunately as a young-ish driver insurance is an issue. All the best with the sale.
