Audi RS2 Avant
Built as a limited edition from March 1994 to July 1995 around 2800 cars were built with only 180 official UK versions imported. The car is based on the Audi 80 Avant and although Audi manufactured most of the cars components, assembly took place at the Porsche Zuffenhausen plant. Porsche extensively modified the 2.2 Litre Audi 5 cylinder Quattro engine including a larger KKK Turbo, bigger injectors, different camshaft, upgraded exhaust and Bosch Engine Management. This took the power up to 315bhp which at coupled with Audis permanent 4 wheel drive was sufficient to slingshot the estate to 30mph faster than both the McLaren F1 and amazingly the current Formula One cars of that time.
Now seen as one of the greatest cult drivers cars ever produced the RS2 has an almost mythical quality about it, mainly due to it’s rarity.
